1. Goal and Topics of the Conference
The IWSCFF 2010 is the sixth in a series of specialist events organized by the IAF Astrodynamics Committee to address the growing interest of the international space community in the area of Satellite Constellation and Formation Flying. Previous workshops have been held in Toulouse, France (1st, 1997), Haпfa, Israel (2nd, 2001), Pisa, Italy (3rd, 2003), Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil (4th, 2005), and Evpatoria, Ukraine (5th, 2008). This 6th workshop will be held in Taipei, Taiwan from 1st to 3rd (Monday to Wednesday) November, 2010. The growth of satellite constellations over the last ten years and more recently the increased interest in formation flying missions are undoubtedly the most important and most exciting developments in commercial, institutional and scientific satellite services. Satellite communication services (based on GEO and LEO constellations), satellite monitoring and satellite navigation services are currently the main drivers of satellite applications, not only for Earth but also for Moon and Mars! The unique and novel characteristics of these satellite systems have not only rejuvenated satellite system design but have also brought new life to classical flight dynamics disciplines like orbital mechanics, attitude control, guidance and navigation, etc. They have also triggered innovative ideas in the design and optimization domains (e.g. inclusion of economic considerations in addition to technical performance and operational availability).
The main goal of this workshop is to draw on the lessons from the past ten years as well as to present and discuss recent results in all of these challenging aspects for future space systems. The main topics of the workshop will be as follows:
· Lessons Learnt from Past Missions
· Mission Analysis & Design
· Deployment & Maintenance
· Services & Operations
· Simulation & Optimization
2. Program
IWSCFF 2010 will be hosted by the National Space Organization (NSPO) of Taiwan. The workshop time is scheduled for November 1~3 (Monday ~ Wednesday), 2010, and will be held at the Howard International House, Taipei, Taiwan. IWSCFF 2010 program will be determined by the workshop committees.
3. Call for Papers
