Первая комета, открытая Лёней из Сайдинг Спринг. Очень необычный объект и открыт необычно - сильно задним числом.  

И в названии приятно видеть ISON    - P/2015 PD229 (ISON-Cameron)

Today we checked the motors for movement.

Motor 1 seems to move well in and out. But 2 and 3 seem to show resistance to anti clockwise (outwards) moves. And stall even though the software stills tells you they are moving in or out.  We did swap leads on the control boxes M1 to M2 or M3 and the same result so it may not be a control box issue but encoders and motors.

Do these motors need lubrication on the brass sleeve inside? Otherwise I would say they are stuffed.

I checked the software parameters at „SettingsàFocus”. They were completely wrong.

Now they are as they should be.

Unfortunately only the first motor (Axis1) works as it should.

Could you please mount a collimation laser instead of the camera? Then press the home button. During the home-procedure each motor moves to a reference switch and then back to a predefined position (1mm in this case). One after another.

You should be able to see the laser point moving away from the center and then back when the first motor moves. Also have a look at the position of Axis 1 in the ACC software.

After that the second motor should move. Please check if the laser point moves. – if not: the motor does not move.

There is no feedback system (like encoders) in this system. So we do not know if the motors actually move. So please perform the procedure described above to find out.

I didn't do any changes. ACC.ini was modified by ASA when we had motor problems in 2014 (or 2015). Since then no changes were made. The file I have sent to Australia is a copy of our last working version.

Today we took the mirror out of its cell to inspect more closely.

What we found was this:

1. One of the mirror support panels under the mirror connected to motor No.2 was not seated correctly. See images Attached.

2. The ball socket in the center of the support panel was not correctly installed (from manufacture?) and was not seated fully in its place. It would take GREAT pressure for this to happen during normal use of the system. See Image.

3. Motor No2. is not responding to commands and its axle appears to have been damaged by the out of center ball joint mentioned in point 2 above.

We suggest a new panel and 3 new motors be sent to SSO fo installation.

The mirror cell finally arrived at ASA. I had got stuck at customs due to some missing documents.
It will be checked within the next few days. Then we can tell you how long the repair will take. (depending on the demand of replacement parts)

mirror cell should be ready to ship to Australia.

Через Петера узнал что ASA отправила оправу в Австралию. С нами напрямую они, почему-то, не общаются. Ну телескоп не наш, пусть так.
Своё фи я высказал Майклу Шварцу (Тенагра), он хотел заказать у ASA монтировку для своего нового 80-см светосильного телескопа. Сказал что поддержка у ASA никакая и сама техника не особо надёжная, на что он ответил что не только от меня это слышал. В общем, заказывать у них он уже ничего не будет.
