[Warner, B.D. (2015) Minor Planet Bul. 42].
[Warner, B.D. (2014) Minor Planet Bul. 41, 113-124.]

http://www.hohmanntransfer.com/

Ondrejov Asteroid Photometry Project

Dataset with Binary Asteroid Parameters that has been originally published in Icarus 190 (2007) 250-259 (get reprint) and that is updated reguarly is available.

Page on the Photometric Survey of Asynchronous Binary Asteroids project.

Page with a summary of prepublished data is updated regularly.

Other routine observations are mentioned here.

This composite lightcurve of binary NEA 65803 Didymos (reprinted from Pravec et al., 2005, Photometric Survey of Binary Near-Earth Asteroids; see the note below) is an example of data resulted from the Photometric Survey for Asynchronous Binary Asteroids run from the Ondrejov Observatory and other collaborating stations (see the link above).

Main tasks of the Ondrejov Asteroid Photometry Project are:

Study of asynchronous binary asteroids among NEAs, Mars crossers, and inner MBAs.
Study of small asteroids with interesting rotations, like tumblers.

People of the Ondrejov Asteroid group:
Petr Pravec (PI)
Petr Scheirich
Peter Kusnirak (principal observer)

Adrian Galád
Mirek Velen

Collaborators:

Our project is currently supported by the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic, Grant 205/05/0604. It was also supported by the Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Grant A3003204 during 2001-2004, by Space Frontier Foundation within The Watch program in 1999, and by other funding agencies.

Photometric Survey for Asynchronous Binary Asteroids

The goal of the survey is to discover asynchronous binary asteroids among small NEAs, MCs, and inner MBAs, and to do it in a controlled way that allows to simulate selection effects and biases in the obtained sample. For that, we use the photometric technique, see our paper Photometric Survey of Binary Near-Earth Asteroids that has appeared in Icarus 181 (2006) 63-93, its reprint is available here; see also newer reports and presentations mentioned here. Another paper by Pravec, Photometric Survey of Asynchronous Binary Asteroids describing the strategy of our Survey has been published in Proceedings of the Symposium on Telescope Science (The 24th Annual Conference of the Society for Astronomical Science), B. D. Warner, D. Mais, D. A. Kenyon, J. Foote (Eds.), the reprint of the paper is available here (0.4 MB). A paper by Pravec and Harris, Binary Asteroid Population. 1. Angular Momentum Content, where data from this Survey were used, has appared in Icarus 190 (2007) 250-259, its reprint is available here.

People and stations taking part in the project coordinate their work through email, using their own e-group. We believe, however, that some basic information is useful to be presented also in a public web page, so we set up this page and provide useful information under links mentioned in following.

    Survey strategy
People and Stations participating in the Survey
    FAQs
    Summary pages
    Additional links
Supporting Grant Agencies and other supporting subjects

The list of asteroids targeted within the Photometric Survey for Asynchronous Binary Asteroids is given in following. Each item gives a status of the object to a given date, observatories that worked it within the Survey, and links to www pages with results summaries and/or publications.
