7th European Conference on Space Debris - Conference Registration now open!

Dear colleagues,
 
Registration for the 7th European Conference on Space Debris is now open. The conference will be held at ESA/ESOC, Darmstadt/Germany, 18 - 21 April 2017.

Registration fees have been posted on the conference website. Fees include access to all sessions of the conference, lunch and refreshment breaks during the days of the conference. A conference dinner and an excursion can be booked separately. Early bird registration ends 20 January 2017, after this date rates are scheduled to increase.

The conference will address all major Space Debris topics, including
radar, optical and in-situ measurements
space surveillance and catalogues
orbit prediction and determination
operational collision avoidance
debris environment modelling and prediction
on-orbit and re-entry risk assessments
debris mitigation techniques and processes
active removal and remediation concepts
mega-constellations
hypervelocity impacts and shielding
standardisation, policies, regulation

IAA Planetary Defense Conference 2017 in Tokyo - Registration and abstract submission open

Dear Colleague,

Individuals may now register and submit abstracts for the 2017 IAA Planetary Defense Conference. The conference, which will be held on May 15-19, 2017 in Tokyo, Japan, brings together experts on what is known about asteroids and comets that might threaten our planet, how a threat might be mitigated, consequences of an asteroid impact, and political, policy, and other factors that would affect the decision to take action.

Conference attendees will participate in a realistic exercise that will illustrate how an asteroid threat might evolve and explore the decision making and disaster mitigation and response challenges characteristic of such an event. The exercise will be based on the evolution of the threat posed by the FICTITIOUS asteroid defined at http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/pdc17/index1.html. At present, the asteroid has a 1% chance of Earth impact, and if impact were to occur, it would be somewhere along the line illustrated in the figure. Based on initial observations, the size of the asteroid is estimated to be between 90 and 350 meters. The call-for-papers and registration information are available at http://pdc.iaaweb.org.

The 2017 COSPAR Symposium is the third of a new series of events initiated by COSPAR which aims to promote space research at a regional level in emerging countries.

The Symposium is multidisciplinary in nature and addresses topics ranging from astronomy, earth observation, planetology, astrobiology up to citizen science. The Symposium features plenary lectures, parallel and poster sessions, as well as training sessions. It is open to participants worldwide. The general topic for the third Symposium is “Small Satellites for Space Research”.

Abstract submission for the 7th European Conference on Space Debris is now open. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 22 November 2016.

The conference will be held at ESA/ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany (18 - 21 April 2017) and it will address all major Space Debris topics, including

    A submitter must be the author or one of the authors of the abstract. Please note that the submission system will not add automatically the submitter name in the list of authors.

    Please keep your password safe.
    Multiple abstract submission per registration/account is possible. A submitter should always use a single account for all her/his abstracts, and for submitting the corresponding paper(s) and presentation(s).
    Please note, that presenting authors need to provide a short bio upon submission.
