III Всероссийская  астрономическая конференция «Небо и Земля», 22-24 ноября 2011 г., Иркутск                       
             
Всероссийская конференция «Небо и Земля», посвященная 80-летию астрономической обсерватории ИГУ, будет проводиться в Иркутском государственном университете в период с 22 по 24 ноября 2011 года. В ходе конференции предусмотрено проведение пленарных заседаний, включая юбилейное заседание 22 ноября, и отдельных сессий по научным направлениям, отражающим основные направления деятельности астрономической обсерватории ИГУ.

Одновременно в Иркутском госуниверситете будет проходить выставка, посвященная 80-летию астрономической обсерватории ИГУ. Планируется показ видеофильмов, снятых в обсерватории. О культурной программе конференции будет сказано в следующих информационных сообщениях. К сожалению, у Оргкомитета нет возможности помочь иногородним участникам с оплатой проезда на конференцию. В случае необходимости, Оргкомитет готов выслать персональные приглашения.

The conference, dedicated to the centennial anniversary of the chief designer of the BTA Bagrat K. Ioannisiani will be held on 10-13 October 2011 at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of Russian Academy of Sciences in the scientific settlement Nizhnii Arkhyz in the North Caucasus.
The conference aims to make a synthesis of the current state and prospects of the scientific research and development of ground-based optical facilities and mounted instruments. We are planning to welcome about 50 to 60 participants. The abstracts and conference materials will be published.
The conference will be held in Russian, an English translation is available upon request. Foreign speakers are welcome to present their reports and speeches in English.

Important Dates

Pre-registration until 10 August 2011.
Submission of abstracts (papers) until 10 August 2011.

A full list of reports, accepted by the conference organizing committee will be published on 15 August 2011 at the conference website, and the final conference programme will be compiled and presented on 15 September 2011. The programme could be changed in case any reports are cancelled.

Конференция, организованная СибГАУ, проходит на территории Красмашевского пионерлагеря санатория-профилактория "Гренада" (55° 57' 00.21" N  92° 50' 35.84 E 140.9m WGS84 - для фанатов GE). Число участников, навскидку, вдвое меньше заявленного на сайте - не ближний свет из европейской части.

IX Российско-Монгольская конференция по астрономии и геофизике

Учреждение Российской академии наук Институт солнечно-земной физики Сибирского отделения РАН, Учреждение Российской академии наук Институт земной коры Сибирского отделения РАН и Исследовательский центр астрономии и геофизики Академии наук Монголии проводят с 10 по 13 октября 2011 года в городе Иркутске IX Российско-Монгольскую конференцию по астрономии и геофизике.

Работа Конференции будет проходить по четырем направлениям
1.Солнечно-земная физика и гелиогеодинамика;
2.Сейсмогеодинамика Байкало-Монгольского региона;
3.Мониторинг и моделирование опасных природных процессов;
4.Гидрогеология и инженерная геология Байкало-Монгольского региона.

2011 Beijing Space Sustainability Conference, which will be held at Beijing, China,
October 13th-14th, 2011. The conference is being hosted by the School of Astronautics at Beihang University
(formerly BUAA) in partnership with International Space University and Secure World Foundation. It is part of the existing “Study on Space Debris Mitigation and Small Satellite Traffic Management” between Secure World Foundation (SWF) and
Beihang University. The conference is designed to give international experts a chance to interact with the Beihang faculty and graduate students, as well as scholars from China, increase mutual knowledge, highlight the Chinese perspective and research on
these topics, build professional relationships, and examine areas where Beihang may be able to contribute to broader international research effort. The Conference will be focusing on several issues relating to the long-term sustainability of space activities, including space debris, safe space operations, SSA data sharing, and space weather. There would be a series of talks and discussions about research topics and projects, etc.

Первые фото из Кейптауна (после регистрации на конференции, прогулялся по городу. С погодой не повезло, прохладно. Прямо негров (афроафриканцев) жалко - они явно мерзнут.

Сегодняшний день ознаменовался тремя знаменательными событиями:

1. Приехал Куприянов

2. Я таки добрел до моря, и даже попробовал воду (холодная   , а еще у меня ветром унесло в море любимую кепку  )

3. Я дописал доклад и даже сумел загрузить его на сайт конференции (была неоднозначность, поскольку деадлайн загрузки давно прошел, и еще у них правило - нет доклада без статьи в труды, статью же, конечно, мне было некогда написать).

Ну вот, с приездом Куприянова и меня можно на фото лицезреть.

Посетили сегодня древний форт - одно из самых старых сооружений города. На последнем фото - Столовая гора.


Сделали с Володей свои доклады. Нормально, но вызвали несколько меньше вопросов, чем я ожидал. Хотя, м.б. потом народ подойдет поговорить. А так, в принципе ко всем докладам вопросов было немного, то ли не проснулись, то ли устали с дороги (некоторые прилетели в этот же день).

Зато вечером полезно пообщались на приеме, с начальством из Роскосмоса, с дипломатами из Вены, и еще с итальянцами наболевшие вопросы порешали.

Third Announcement for the 10th E-VLBI Workshop 2011 Nov 13-16

Towards Global Real-Time VLBI

** Deadline for abstract submission is Oct 1 **

The 10th International e-VLBI Workshop will be held in South Africa
near the Hartebeesthoek Radio Astronomy Observatory, between Nov 13
and Nov 16, 2011.  HartRAO is both a component of the e-EVN and
involved in work towards the South African SKA pathfinder,
MeerKAT. HartRAO is also spearheading an effort to convert
communications dishes across Africa into an African VLBI network.

E-VLBI is the enabling technology to realizing a world-wide, flexible,
real-time VLBI network, where the observing configuration is driven by
the science needs.  With the coming expansion of sensitivity to
transient radio sources driven by LOFAR, MeerKAT, MWA and ASKAP, the
capability of rapid and high-resolution followup such as can be
provided by e-VLBI will be of increasing importance.

The focus of this workshop will be on both recent scientific results
achieved using e-VLBI and technical advances in the transport,
processing and imaging of e-VLBI data.

Conference: The E-VLBI workshop will be held Nov 13 to 15 at
Amanzingwe Conference centre,near Johannesburg, South Africa, followed
by a tour or HartRAO and a discussion of the African VLBI Network on
Nov 16.

Resolving the Sky – Radio Interferometry: Past, Present and Future (RTS 2012)

N.B. The conference registration is now open, participant numbers are limited to about 110 people, and seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
“RTS 2012” conference will take a look at the past, present and future of radio interferometry, as the astronomical community prepares for the next big step forward, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA). 
 
The meeting coincides with the retirement of Prof. Richard T. Schilizzi, Director of the SKA Project Development Office (SPDO) and past director of the Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe (JIVE).  We celebrate the major contribution Richard has made to the field with a scientific programme that will address the following topics:
·         Key historical developments in radio interferometry,
·         Study of micro-quasars and AGN,
·         Development of advanced interferometry techniques and new calibration algorithms,
·         Future interferometers (incl. ALMA, SKA and the SKA pathfinders & precursors),
·         mm and sub-mm interferometry,
·         Radio astronomy tracking of deep space missions
·         Geodetic VLBI, and
·         Space VLBI.
