INAF-Cagliari Astronomical Observatory, the Italian Space Agency and the
Sardinian Regional Government are happy to announce the opening of the
registration for the SECOND SARDINIAN SUMMER SCHOOL IN ASTROPHYSICS.
In view of the imminent scientific commissioning of the new 64-m Sardinia
Radio Telescope, the Sardinian Summer School 2012 theme will be
TECHNOLOGY IN RADIO ASTRONOMY AND SPACE SCIENCE
Detecting Radio Waves
The school will be held in Pula (CA, Italy) from
June 11 to 16, 2012.
The school will be focused on the technologies behind single dish radio
astronomy and radio science, with particular emphasis on antenna optics,
receiver and transmitter design, active and passive detector's devices,
radar systems, antenna controls and software, back-end architectures,
RFI mitigation techniques, instrument testing and calibration, metrology.
Lectures and hands on activities are planned at the Parco Tecnologico della
Sardegna (Sardinia's Technological Park) at Pula (CA).
Participants will also visit the Sardinia Radio Telescope. Students
from abroad can apply for financial grants.

The number of participants is limited to 30 and the ranking will be
first based on the applicants' CV and letters of presentation. In
case of identical rank, priority will be given on a first-come
first-served basis.

Dead line for registration is April 16
The fee for successful applicants is 200 euro and will cover 6 nights
(from the 10th to the 16th) at half board in a hotel nearby the
Technology Park.
